The example of asthma<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

In acute asthma, the airways become so inflamed that we have to prescribe medication containing cortisone These so-called asthma sprays relieve the symptoms and improve the quality of life, but they have one disadvantage: in high doses, they also affect processes in your body that we are not targeting at all (bones, eyes, blood sugar and so on). Cortisone therefore behaves like a lawnmower on an area where you only want to cut a few very specific blades. New drugs work more precisely by targeting specific types of asthma, for example.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The example of COPD<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is complex and unfortunately often associated with setbacks, so-called exacerbations. Each exacerbation increases the risk of another exacerbation, as if in a vicious circle. This makes medical research all the more important. Many patients can hope for novel procedures that alleviate their symptoms.
