Spiroergometry
The lungs, heart and circulation together make up the cardiopulmonary system. For some complaints, it therefore makes sense to look for connections. In other words, your breathing problems may also be caused by your heart. In our practice, you are in particularly professional hands, as Dr. Klaißle and Dr. Martens have a background in internal medicine as well as pulmonology.

Interaction of lungs, heart and muscles
When we recommend spiroergometry, this means that we want to take a close look at your cardiovascular function as well as your lung function. To do this, we let you pedal on an ergometer. During this physical exertion, we measure your blood pressure, heart rate, blood oxygen level and much more. This enables us to take a holistic view of your circulatory and respiratory function.
Precise diagnosis – the basis of therapy
A major advantage of spiroergometry is that we can precisely determine the limits of your exercise capacity. Above all, however, spiroergometry allows us to differentiate between cardiological (heart) and pulmonary (lungs) causes of breathlessness. Depending on the findings, we may refer you for cardiological diagnostics or to special centers, for example to clarify pulmonary hypertension.
Long-term approach
Many of our patients come regularly for spiroergometry, for example in cases of sarcoidosis or pulmonary fibrosis. This allows us to measure the progression of a disease or the success of treatment.
